MEDITATION EXERCISES



I have several meditations for beginners in my correspondence course. These meditations are not for beginners. Before you begin the meditations on this site you should have the ability to clear your mind of all thoughts and images. If you are flitting about between one school of thought and another, you will never be able to gain any ground as an effective shamanic practitioner. This is because you must be able to control and banish certain situations or entities that you encounter in the other worlds. This cannot be done if you are not able to take control of what is in your own mind.

In addition, you should have a mentor or a teacher who is able to answer any questions which arise in relation to the meditations. You will experience different effects, sensations and emotions, or have problems which arise that you do not expect. You should always set up a protective circle before beginning any meditation. A protective white light won't help you. In fact this business of protective lights surrounding your body will only give you a false sense of security. Shamanism is not safe, nor are most of the creatures you will encounter, espcially in the under-world. If you do not know how to set up a circle, you must take the time to learn this first.



GROUNDING & VISUALIZATION EXERCISE


This exercise is meant to be done in three parts. It's great for relaxation. If you are living with a spouse, roomate or have children, it's best to do your meditations when they are gone. However, life is not perfect so if you must do the exercises in the evening after work or start on a weekend, try to go to a separate part of the house (the garage if necessary) to insure that you will not be disturbed.


In order to go on Shamanic journeys you must be able to use your sense of touch, smell, sight, taste, and hearing as if everything were right before you in the physical realm. In addition you must be able to decipher messages that may not seem clear at the time, but will later have meaning.


This exercise teaches you how to remove built up stress, and it relaxes your body in order to help you with further meditations.


Before you begin these meditations it is essential to have a journal to record the events of your meditations. Don't leave anything out. Take your time to record everything immediately, before you leave your space.


Lay down on the floor. Empty your mind. Visualize all of your stress as thick black goo. See the black goo oozing out of your body, then replace it with blue electric energy. Start with your feet and slowly work up to your head. You should take this in small steps by concentrating a little at a time, your right foot and ankle, then your left, move onto your calf and so on in small progressions.

If you are new to meditation or visualization (or just a little rusty!) Continue with this portion of the exercise once a day, until you feel capable of continuing with part two of the exercise.

Now you may continue on in whatever exercise or meditation you wish. This should energize you, so I do not recommend doing this meditation before bed or before a journey, as it will interfere with attaining a trance like state. It is good when you need the energy to get through the day if you are ill, tired, overly stressed, going on a simple visualization exercise, before a protection meditation or healing your aura.






PROGRESSIVE MEDITATIONS


Before you begin your cave meditations, there are other meditation excercises you can work on as your progress, such as: Change the Seasons within your forest Meditation, journey into the center of different solid objects creating a little cave within them. The types of objects are only limited by your imagination.


There are several methods which can be used for "cave meditations". Before you embark upon your first spirit journey you should work on aligning/opening your Chakras, as well as your different bodies. The average student with the help of a teacher, needs 3-4 months of daily work to open all of the chakras.

Once you have finished working on your spiritual development excersies, Chakra Meditations, and learning how to cleanse your aura, and realign your different bodies you should take a cave journey to meet your animal spirit guide. Please be certain that you have mastered all of your meditation exercises.
